About College: Brief History of the College

CARS Kunkuri has a primary mandate to provide education, conduct research, and offer extension services in the field of agriculture and related areas. The college offers academic programs only undergraduates in agricultural disciplines. These programs cover fields such as Agronomy, Genetics Plant Breeding, Horticulture, Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Agricultural Statistics, Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Economic, Farm Machinery and Power Engineering. These colleges play a crucial role in delivering quality agricultural education and hands-on training to students. Cars Kunkuri is actively involved in agricultural research, with a focus on improving agricultural practices and addressing regional challenges. This research is aimed at increasing crop productivity, sustainability, and the overall well-being of farmers in Chhattisgarh.The College conducts research on a variety of crops, including cereals (such as rice and wheat), pulses (like pigeonpea, Pea, Lathyrus, chickpeas and lentil etc) and Oilseed (Safflower and Linseed). This research contributes to the development ofbetter agricultural practices for these crops in Chhattisgarh. The college provides extension services to disseminate agricultural knowledge, best practices, and technological advancements to the farming community in Chhattisgarh. These services help bridge the gap between research and practical application for farmers. CARS Kunkuri, (IGKV) is a crucial institution in Chhattisgarh, contributing to the development of the agricultural sector, education, and research in the state. Its work plays a vital role in improving agricultural practices and the lives of farmers in the region.

• 1. College of Agriculture and Research Station, Kunkuri, Dist. Jashpur (C.G.) was established on 6th July 2019 as a constituent college of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur (C.G.).
• 2. The college is situated 25 km away from the Head-Quarter and about 355 km from IGKV, Raipur. The college is facilitated with greenery around and play ground.
• 3. Agriculture College, Kunkuri follows a holistic approach for the development of the agriculture by integrating teaching, research and extension activities and assumes specific responsibility for improvement of rural life in totality.
• 4. The college is dedicated to educate and train the students in agriculture in order to enable them to achieve perceptible value addition to their technical knowledge, skills and positive attitude towards life along with enhanced employability at the time of passing out form the colleges.
• 5. Admissions to under-graduate programme are made though Pre-Agriculture Test (PAT) conducted by “CG Vyapam, Raipur” of the state Government.
• 6. The total intake capacity is 40 students for the UG B.Sc. Ag.(Hons.) degree programme. This is fifth year of the college and first batch is passed-out during 2021-22.
